Manatee

Manatees, sometimes called sea cows, continue their struggle to survive. These gentle giants are slow moving herbivores whose main threat is of the humankind. Sharks, crocodiles, killer whales, and alligators prey on the manatee, but human encroachment upon their environment is making survival a constant challenge. They’ve been around for about 45 million years. Without protection, extinction is possible within a mere hundred years. The 3000 plus population simply cannot reproduce fast enough to keep up with their human imposed difficulties. Check out the Save the Manatee website for more on what you can do to help.
